Most of us feel a little nervous about going to the doctor or dentist. Anticipation and anxiousness can creep in and cause lots of unnecessary mental agony. If you have kids in your home that feel nervous about an upcoming dental visit, consider reading some amazing children’s books to help combat the jitters.
One such book is The Tooth Book, by Dr. Seuss. Per usual with Dr. Seuss’ writing, this book intermixes fun, silly rhymes with practical advice for a dental beginner.
Another favorite is The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist, by Stan and Jan Berenstain. In this story, the reader has the opportunity to go along with Mama, Papa, Brother, and Sister for a trip to the dentist where they’ll get checked for cavities, have their teeth cleaned, and learn all about the tools a dentist uses to help keep teeth healthy.
Just Going to the Dentist, by Mercer Mayer, is a classic, heart-warming story about a first visit to the dentist that helps kids put their greatest fears to rest!
Many other great titles exist to help children ease their anxiety and prepare them for the dentist chair. And let’s be honest, even nervous adults could benefit from flipping through these cute stories! Our goal is to make our patients (big and small) feel as comfortable as possible. For the little ones, we’ve got some magic tricks up our sleeves (literally) to make them feel comfortable. We’d love to meet you – and be a partner that will put your dental fears to rest.
