You’ve got laundry, work, cooking, hanging with friends – we get it! It can be hard to find time to squeeze one more thing into your daily routine. But establishing a consistent tooth-brushing routine is essential for maintaining optimal oral health. Thankfully, this is one part of your routine that doesn’t take much time – and will pay off for years to come.
Start by brushing your teeth at least twice a day—once in the morning and once before bed. Use a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush, making sure to brush for at least two minutes each time. This will help remove plaque, prevent cavities, and keep your gums healthy. Don’t forget to brush your tongue as well to combat bad breath!
Just as important as brushing is the technique you use while brushing. Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gums and use gentle, circular motions, avoiding harsh scrubbing, which can damage your enamel and gums over time. Be sure to replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles are worn. We’d also recommend flossing daily and using mouthwash to reach areas your toothbrush may have missed.
By creating this balanced routine, you’re setting yourself up for long-term oral health and a brighter smile!
